Lavinia Hale is a landscape painter based in Greencastle, Indiana. Raised in a creative family and having lived on both U.S. coasts, she developed an early appreciation for beauty in nature and everyday life. After earning a BA in Visual Arts from Brigham Young University, she and her husband Jacob settled in Indiana, where they’ve raised eight children and grown deep roots in their community.
Guided by her motto, “Embrace the Process,” Lavinia paints primarily en plein air, seeking to capture the fleeting light, subtle color shifts, and emotional resonance of the landscape. Influenced by Russian Impressionism and American Tonalism, her work balances realism and abstraction, boldness and nuance. Through each painting, she invites viewers to slow down and connect with the wonder of the natural world.
