Sam Sartorius is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects a lifelong journey through fine art, dance, textile design, and decorative arts. These influences are evident in her paintings through dynamic movement, refined color palettes, technical precision, and intentional patterns.
She began her career in textile design at 19 with Ginnie Johansen Designs, which led to over a decade of international work. Later, she earned a BFA in Painting from Indiana University–Purdue University, graduating as a Chancellor’s Scholar. Her practice has been shaped by residencies and fellowships across the U.S. and Europe, including an influential eight-month residency at the Egon Schiele Art Centrum in the Czech Republic.
Now based in rural Texas, her abstract nature paintings are deeply inspired by the surrounding landscape and its shifting light and forms.
